Established in 2018 during the early dawn of Web 3, this lab was built for a new generation of digital natives, from Web 1.0 onwards, to prepare our clients for the ongoing digital revolution throughout this and the next decade.

History

Stephan von Falkenstein: Pioneering Innovation from Web1 to Web3 and Beyond

Stephan von Falkenstein, a renowned Creative Director, experienced UI/UX Designer, Knight, and the current Digital Director of the House of Ascania, as well as a Design System Engineer, has been pivotal to the success of Vonfal Media since its inception in 2006 and the expansion of Safehouse Lab with the rise of Web3 and Twitch Streaming in 2018.

Stephan also live streams daily on Twitch for Safehouse Lab and contributes weekly articles on history, science, and technology for the House of Ascania on Medium.

Throughout his distinguished career, Stephan has led the charge in technological innovation, guiding the transition from the early stages of Web1 and Web2 to the modern Web3 era. With his deep understanding of emerging tech trends and user interfaces, Stephan has made a profound impact on the digital world.

In the gaming community, his prowess in The Division 1 Dark Zone PvP is well-known, frequently recognized by Massive Ubisoft. His expertise extends to Warframe builds, Destiny Raids, and PVP Crucible, and he has pioneered VR gaming with his PVP dogfights in EVE: Valkyrie, featured in CCP broadcasts.

Stephan's career took off in 2007 with the development and design of some of the first apps on the "Installer app" for the iPhone1 Jailbreaking community. By 2009, he had influenced the fashion industry with one of the first cloud app file-sharing services. His leadership in 2012, marked by the debut of the innovative Spotify Tablet app, set new standards for user experiences.

Moving into roles such as Lead Product Designer at NowThis News, Art Director at Red Bull, Creative Director at Tigerspike, and UX Designer and Research Scientist for Spotify, Stephan's contributions have significantly shaped the digital environment. His work with major players like Snapchat and Facebook led to the development of pioneering video design systems, including the introduction of vertical short video formats now common on platforms like Reels, Shorts, and Stories.

Stephan and his experienced team utilize their knowledge to assist clients around the globe in bringing their ideas, startups, and companies to life or elevating them to the next level.
